Don't know if it's because i'm getting on in years or not, but it seems as though nobody at work has a laugh anymore. Having worked as a joiner on building sites for 24 years ( Oh my God, is it that long ), the one thing you could rely on to get you through the day was a laugh and a carry on with fellow workies. Those days i'm afraid are long gone.
Everyone seems to be walking about with their chins at their knees. I blame all the do-gooders and their rules.
No more radio's. Gone are the days were 40 guys would huddle round and listen to Simon Bates' 'Our Tune', wondering if the wee lassie would come out of her coma after being run over while on her way to pick up her sick granny's messages.
No eating or drinking on site . Never again will you see 120 empty irn bru bottles lined up against the wall ready to put towards the nerday carry oot.
No builders bum. No more fat hairy arse cracks to try and flick nails into.
No smoking. ( Don't mind that one actually )
And last but not least, no wolf whistling at women ( or men, if that takes your fancy )
Bet you even the women will miss that one !. Many a date I used to get with that one. Before I was married obviously...
Going to make it my mission tomorrow to have a laugh at work because any more days like today the job might actually get finishedon time, and we don't want that.....

Rubbish at board games
@ 2006-08-18 – 20:10:48
Been going through a phase recently, playing board games. But for some reason, probably because I'm crap, I can't seem to win at anything.
The wife has beaten me six times in a row at scrabble,Monopoly and Cluedo.. even my 5 year old daughter beats me at matching cards.
I got an Eighties DVD music game for my 40th and was sure I'd be unbeaten at this, as eighties music was my speciality... or so I thought.
Played it one night on Holiday with friends ! and they would'nt even let me win that....My day will come.. -
Denta-fix Bagel
@ 2006-08-07 – 22:45:24
This is my first blog, so I hope it works out:
While on Holiday this year with friends we were treated to a funny moment one morning while having brekkie in the garden of our holiday house.
Having realised that her crown was coming loose the day before we went our friend decided rather than go to the dentist, she would instead bring some denti-fix with her in case of emergency's.
On the first morning there, while having her morning bagel, she discovered her tooth wedged firmly in her breakfast treat. Not wanting anyone to see her misfortune she suddenly jumped up and made a run for the door, only to trip over the step and fall flat on her face, bagel, plate and tooth flying in all directions.
Trying not to make her more embaressed than she already was, I was full of concern at her mishap.
Knowing me like she does she probebly knew I was holding in the biggest laugh I had !
